Door Rattle

Door Rattle
...Took my TT in the other day to the conshohocken dealer in Pa. The senior tech went for a drive with me to find what was making noise in the car. It seemed to be coming from the roadster top mechanism (2001 225). After driving with the top up and down for about 1/2 hour he figured out what it was. The door latches are loose and need to be re-ordered and replaced. Has anyone else had this happen? Was it fixed?
Thanks

My coupe has been in at least four times for this.... they have retightened the latches...
to no availe.... finally I applied some Z16 to all of the rubber trim on the door and frame and..... quiet, blessed quite..... how long it will last is not known, but I can live with wiping the trim down every few weeks to get rid of the noise....

Thank God for this post....I have a new roadster and it seems to do the same see below..
I have been hearing this rubbing noise at times right behing my ear...Its not metal on metal but the rubber trim I think...I was wondering where you buy the goop to put around the rubber trim. Im not sure if that will help my case or not, but worth the try. I would love this problem fixed so any suggestions...I have taken it to the dealer and they tighten the door but did not put new laches on...HELP

Known problem. Here is how they fixed it....
This is a known problem. Had it almost from the beginning on my Roadster. It is due to wear of the door hinges, which leads to a displaced position of the door. I can tell that b/c it only happens on my left door, the one used most. Ultimately, it is bad design from Audi....
It is also weather-dependent, and tends to show up more in the wet winter (I live in Northern California).
Two dealers tried various fixes, with varying degrees of insuccess. At the last visit, they seemed to have found a semi-permanent fix: They wrapped a velcro tape or similar around the rubber triangular piece that holds the door in place: No more door noises!
