Dragon experience . . . Wow!
I took my 15yo son down to TN/NC this past weekend to experience the "Tail of the Dragon". I know many of you have done this countless times before, but this was our first. We dodged one rain after another on Friday and Saturday, but all told put 560 miles on those wonderful curvy roads in the two days! What a great time!
As fabled as 129 is, we found NC28 to be more fun, and Cherohala Skyway was a nice trip, too. It's weird, but I always thought the motorcycles were the FAST ones . . . following 30 Harleys at 15mph got really old, really fast. (We turned around and went the other way again several times).
By the time we got back to Indiana, we'd put 31 hours of seat time in a 1630 mile trip from Thursday evening to Sunday evening. A great bonding experience for father and son, and a great driving time when we were there. We even had a chance to see the wonderful folks at Bryant Boats over in Sweetwater, too.
I look forward to the killboy and zee photos, just to see if we really smiled or not!
Altogether a great experience, and one I'm sure we'll repeat. Final statistics for the TT:
1630 miles
30:48 seat time
28.3 average mpg
58 average mph
What a great car! What a great road!
Just felt the need to share

Glad you had a great time on the dragon...>>
Yeah, you gotta watch out for the cruisers. We try to make it down several times a year.
The Cherohala reminds me of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Lot's of great views.

Indeed, the experience for EVERY enthusiast. We were there in April (ACNA).
Great event, and the long drives are spectacular, as the Dragon is exciting!
