Default DRLs on a non-DRL TT

Just ordered a 2000 JDM LHD TT. Should be here in about 4 weeks. The question I have,is that the TT wasn't required to have DRLs (Daytime Running Lights) in Japan. However, in my locale (Canada), we are required to have DRLs. I know that it is possible to enable DRLs through VCDS (Vag-com) - I believe it's 'bit 15' that has to be set. I really do not want to have a mechanic install a DRL module that requires cutting into the wiring harness. There's very little info I can find on this. Does anyone have experience with this?
Thanks.

Default Found the Answer...

Did a bit of digging through various forums... Found that I can 'short' the connections between pins 1 and 8 of the connector the headlight switch plugs into. This will cause the fog lights to turn ON while the ignition is ON. Hence, full time DRLs. Ideally, you'd want the fogs to turn OFF when the markers or headlights are turned ON, but I'll have to look at that later once I have the car 'passed' & licensed for local operation. It is suggested that the wire used to 'short' the pins be fused with a 15A fuse to not 'fry' anything.
