Default Yes, not for a couple of years, amazing film...

If you haven't seen much Bergman, do yourself a favor and check out

Seventh Seal
Persona
Cries and Whispers
and Hour of the Wolf, which is a horror film, believe it or not

Default I've just started to get into his film...Cries and Whispers was intense! I will check out the

others as well...Do you happen to know what is considered his absolute best film?

Default depends on your tastes, of course

Persona is probably one of his two or three best, but it's not really one of my favorites, although I appreciate it. I much prefer Cries and Whispers.

I love The Seventh Seal, which holds up even though it has been parodied to death (Love and Death, Monty Python's Meaning of Life, The Last Action Hero). It's a very weird movie, mostly because it is very funny at times, while being VERY symbolic, which is a hard thing to pull off.

Fanny and Alexander, the last movie Bergman has directed is very sweet and wonderful, although not "great" maybe.

Actually, although not generally counted among his greats, I think Autumn Sonata is terrific and has Ingrid Bergman in her last role.

Have fun! I think I'm going to order the Wild Strawberries DVD now...

Default Thanks for some great information...I've heard that I should check out the Seventh Seal and think

that will be my next choice...

If you would like to borrow my Wild Strawberries...I'd be happy to ship it to ya!

Default nice offer, but it's one I want to buy anyway...

If you haven't discovered the Criterion Collection, it's the most amazing line of dvd releases I know.
