I am looking into purchasing 2003 Audi tt convertible 1.8 w/ 68k miles. Clean title and a/t. Is there anything I have to watch out for? How's the reliability? Much obliged.

Plan to replace the timing belt, tensioner, water pump and associated equipment if they have not been replaced in the past 5 years. Failure to do so could lead to a $5K+ repair if the timing belt sysem fails.

Make sure all the dash guages and the pixels in the center display are readible. Loss of a few pixels is normal. The temp guage should read dead center when at operating temperature

Make sure the glove box latch works perfectly - $1,000 to fix because you have to replace the entire glove box.

While the manual tranny is excellent, there have ben a few reports of premature failure of the valve body for the auto.

Make sure the rear window is well attached.
