Default Electronic Stability Program (ESP)--Audi Mailing List text and my aesthetic thoughts . . .

Hello:

As we all know by now, ESP will be standard equipment on TTs by years end (per Audi Internet Newsletter 09/99). Here's the relevant language:
_____________________

Electronic Stability Program for all Audi model series

The Electronic Stability Program ESP will be available for all Audi model series by the beginning of next year. ESP is currently standard equipment in all Audi A8s, the Audi S4, S6 and S8, as well as in all A3 models over 110 kW (150hp) and A4s and A6s with 6-cylinder spark ignition engines. By the end of the year it will be standard equipment in the S3 and all TT models. ESP will be available as an option for all other Audi models of these series.
______________________

Aside from addressing any serious stability concerns, I hope the "ESP" button might occupy the "blank" on the dashboard of quattro TTs. (Remember--the front-wheel drive TT has the "ASR" Anti-Slip Regulation and the quattro does not.)

Again, Audi--are you listening?

Default Aesthetics aside . . . (more)

. . . I don’t want to have to worry about whether or not I’m taking a turn too fast; I just called my dealer to ask if she can move my order to week 50 or later. I've already waited this long, another few weeks (my TTQ was scheduled for November production) won't kill me . . . at least I hope not!

I do agree with John, though, use the ASR button for ESP on TTQs (nt)

Default I just spoke with an AoA customer advocate she checked with (more)

someone else and got back on the line and told me that there is no set date at which the TT will have ESP. I heard the same thing from customer service (product specialist).

The Press realease at audi.com, dated Sept. 13) says that they will be standard on the TT by the end of the year, but that could be just for European cars. It would make sense that if Audi announced it in Sept, AoA would know about it if it applied to the US market.
