Default We do have 2 electrice fans .. .none are pulley drive!

The engien is turned 90* so it can't run a fan off a pulley!

Default Maybe it's a bad coolant temperature sensor?

I had one going bad on my S4, but the gauges still worked when I had it replaced, and the engine would run a little rich from thinking the engine is running cooler than it really is. BTW, on Audi's the coolant needle position straight up covers the range of 70C-90C. A tick to the right would be 100C. The engine strives to maintain 80C at all times. On my S4, I've only seen it move a tick to the right on the racetrack.

How long have you had the chip Ryan? Did you use it at the track 2 weeks ago?

Default Thanks for all the advice but I'm still worried...

I've had the car last summer and it never happened.

I am used to a minor temprature increase (half a notch on the scale) but what I get here is a needle that goes pretty fast to 3/4 of the scale!

I never let it go beyond it because I'm afraid it will damage the engine so it might just as well heat up even more if I let the motor idle...

Is this normal?

Anyhow, the car stayed at the dealer for the weekend. I'll keep you posted.

Default Try this to see if it is the Cluster.....

you can display the coolant temp in place of the heat/air temp display.

I believe from memory it is this:
Press the Recirculation and up arrow at the same time.
use the temp (maybe fan)control to dial "51"
press the recirculation button again.
This is the coolant temp in degC.

If it stays constant and the cluster says otherwise, you've got a bad cluster or cluster wiring harness.

Press the recir and up arrow to cancle or turn off.

i'm on my third cluster and they still can't get it right.
