Default ESP light kicking on and staying on....

I've read many posts about this issue.. my traction light will just kick on and stay on randomly... sometimes when i shut off the car and restart it, the light goes off.. sometimes it stays on. I know that there are alot of sensors working together for the traction control, but which ones should i check out first.. i'd hate to throw random parts at it if there is a specific sensor that has repeated issues. Right when i bought the car (01 225TTQ) i had to remove the brake switch and clean it. Perhaps i should just replace that first? I read somewhere that if there is a slight voltage drop across the brake switch that it could cause issues. Any input would be appreciated.. thanks

Default Honestly, I'd guess MAF first. If it was the brake switch, you'd see an ABS light as well.

At least, based on my recent experiences, you would.

Bad MAF can lead to strange ESP lights.

Default But bad MAF will also lead to the car to be down on power

Default Bingo, I've replaced both of mine. Around $150-200 each IIRC. Easy R&R swap.

You really need to scan the fault codes to know for sure though.

Mine was bad (ESP light on) for a while before I went into soft limp.
