Default ESP question.....

been reading here for a while since buying 01TTQR in Feb, have not seen answer to this so apologise if it's been posted before...

My ESP dash light is constantly on - for about last three weeks...two trips to dealer result in defect does not appear on test drive response, question is, is this likely a short somewhere or is my ESP always off as the light is on and is this an issue?

Aside from and even with a couple of other issues
I have had nothing but pleasure from the TT so far and would not consider anything else in the same class...(would not mind trading my dealer tho!)

well tell them to check it on computer as it's probably a failed ABS/ESP sensor.

Default Get a new dealer.

If the light is off that means ESP is in standby and ready to take any corrective action.
When the light is blinking that means ESP is doing its thing.
If the light is on solid that means ESP is disabled, either by pressing the dashboard switch or due to a fault.
You should have this checked out, see if there is anyone in your area with a VAG-Com that can check the faults for you.

Default You need to pull the DTCs from the ABS module. It is probably throwing a code.

Mine is on all the time right now because I need a new sensor.

Your dealer should have done this.
