Exhaust question: I had my MTM dual exhaust installed over the weekend and the tips don't stick
out as much as the other exhausts I see posted here. The exhaust tips are actually in quite a bit and only expands enough to where it looks good when they get hot. Midas says that if I want it to stick out more, they need to weld an extension pipe. Does that sound right?
Thanks,
Joe

There's not much to work with on length with the exhaust so they're probably not...
..pulling your leg. How did your tips look with the OEM exhaust? That would be the gauge for whether the issue is with your stock piping or with the MTM exhaust itself. I'd just go for the extension and be done with it.

I don't think so...sounds like they are trying to get a few more $$$ out of you.
Where the mid pipe connects to the head pipe there is a slip collar sufficient in size (length) that you could adjust the tips out a couple inches with no problem. In fact I started with mine sticking out further then I wanted and adjusted them in.

I've got the MTM exhaust and mine looks just like stock. Did you get a small adapter pipe that
connects to the cat? Also check to make sure that your hangers are not bent out of shape. If everything checks out OK, send it back and get a new one.

That hardly seems worth their while and it's easy enough to check them on.
I'd have them show me on a lift that there's nothing left to work with. Sounded a little fishy to me to but I just don't see the motive. I don't think MTM/Milltek has been exactly superb on quality control as Pete has indicated he has had to send several units back to them for shoing up flawed.

I figure there is some variation going on because I had a problem with mine sticking out too far
I had to have a pipe cut 1/2 of an inch to get it to fit properly. I don't have MTM, but UUC. I figured it was because it was a new product (actually was a production 'sample').
