Chrysler also matched it. Who will be the first non-domestic maker to match it? Maybe nobody????
P.S. The local Saab dealer is out of cars as a result of this! BTW, Ford's program does not include Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover and Aston Martin nor does Chrysler's include Benz. I can't imagine VW/Audi doing this and the Japanese are already having too good of a year.

Yahoo: Ford matches GM discounts, ups price war

Units sold or profits?
I am really amazed by the spin GM is putting on the this employee discount for all program. GM had, on average, a $2,400 loss per car before the start of this marketing campaign. I cannot image that it made money on any of the cars sold. The arguments that it will make it up on volume or through financing is a fabrication.
Really glad to see that the U.S. automakers can innovate, leading to new ways of hastening banktuptcy.

Used car prices across the board are already in the tank
With all the Zero percent financing on new cars a couple of years ago all used cars took a dive. And now with this look for things to only get worse. Of course it will hit their own brands hardest but anyo used car out there just got cheaper I think.
There are exceptions, unfortunately history has shown the TT isn't one of them. Not that I plan on selling. Ever.

TTs hold their value better than most but it still hurts to have spent ~$40K in 2001 and
see similar cars selling now for $16-20K!
We knew it going into it but the point is to enjoy the ride
Me, well.. I'm holding on to the TT for a few more years and putting money (that I'll never get back) in some mods
keeping the fun/mile ratio high
ignoring the $/mi loss
