fans ,overheating problem.
I have a 2000 tt quattro since i bought the car i have had overheating problems I already replace water pump , thermostat , fan swich ( the one that goes on the radiator )and still the same problem whenever the car is idling or in stop and go traffic the needle moves from the 12
o position (middle ) to a little bit more than the next line .
I found out today that when i turn on the A/C the fans don't go on right away they take about 20 seconds to go on and after that they only stay on for about another 20 seconds and i have never seeing or heard the fans go on

Have you tried to check the engine temp using the AC control unit?
click on the link for how to access the diagnostic. I'm not sure if these numbers are for the TT though, but to get to the diagnostic mode, the steps are the same.

I believe the second fan is supposed to come on with the AC
However, I'm not too sure if its supposed to stay on all the time or not. I was under the impression that the second fan was temperature regulated as well.
