If these price estimates (I think I called that one!) are anywhere close to real....

still cheaper than my TT cost to build but..... less hp .......... i wish hte mk2 wasnt so big
 

in person they are odd 2 me due to there over all larger size

Except it won't be anywhere near that much - figure a $3-5k premium over the base 3.2L
 

Audi isn't that crazy.

car prices are never set with a straight conversion like that
 

car prices in the US, especially for Euro cars right now, are an absolute bargain compared to what everyone else spends. The R8 would probably be selling for close to $200k before the huge markups if they just did a direct Euro to dollar conversion.

I know, but you're betting on Audi continuing to subsidize the US market....>
 

right now dealer margins, even at full retail, are minimal. At some point the dealers say fook it and move on to their more profitable brands..

*shrug* Not like they've stopped doing that with every other model including the S5 and R8
 

which have huge demand and waiting lists. They could be selling the R8 for quite a bit higher (MSRP) and they're not.

Would have to be GREAT at that price, and even then . . .
 

The market is self-limiting at that level, and there are other viable (probably better) choices that drivers have traditionally preferred when spending that kind of money. I find it hard to believe Audi thinks there is a market for a $60,000+ TT, regardless of its performance. $40,000+ TTs (with a perfectly respectable V6 and manual tranny) aren't exactly rolling off dealer lots. Throw in a recession and the TTS could well be a non-starter in the U.S. (assuming the accuracy of present exchange rate calculations).

agree, price an Audi TT at $60-70 ... heh! VERY good for Cayman sales :)

That ages as poorly, both in resale and reliability, as the Audi...

It will take a lot of effort for Audi to overcome these perceptions (and realities) in the marketplace...
