Finally getting my door panel fixed
Some one tried to break into my car a few years back and messed up my driver side door trying. It didn't look bad, but I got tired of looking at it and finally broke down and getting it fixed. I found a shop that will go the extra yard to do a good job. Aluminum panels are fun to work with.

I guess I better take a magnet with me to the body shop to test it.
Shop said he had to get a aluminum welder to repair the cracks around the door handle.
Having a tough time getting the "ocean blue" color to match. Stock color is too dark.

They likely would use a TIG welder for sheet metal cracks. Same unit is used for aluminum.
Door panels ARE steel though. Mk2 TT has aluminum front fenders and unibody but even it has steel doors I believe.

i read the article on the Lambo scratch build...and he was talking about welding...
especially with aluminum. 'practice, practice, practice.'
it was a good read on how he build it with aluminum.
