Default Going over the hill with my rattl'n car....

yeah... so the car starts to make more rattle and noises that I never heard of.
Noise #1:I hear this clunk clunk under the rear. The other day, it was so loud that I thought the car behind me run into me. What could it be?

Noise #2 Click, click, like a shorting out sound, behind the cluster (The fuel gauge has been acting up here and there). It is more noticeable when I turn the steering wheel. What could it be?

Thanks for your help.

Default Wondering why that's different from my clunks?

See my post of last night. Also I asked the Audi dealer about the manufacturer of the shocks and he said he wasn't certain as they only came with "Audi" on them, but he was sure that Audi wouldn't stoop to using Monroe shocks.

Default well...all you have to do is look at the shock.>>>

outside tube to see it is Monroe....it is printed right on it!

If your car has more than 30k on it and has OEM shocks in it...they are gone...fwiw

Default yeah...

Monroe... I have been riding on "that crap" since 2002. I have been putting it off since then to replace em, and the car has 72,xxx miles on it. I kno, shame on me... Anyways... besides the clunk clunk.. what kinda symptoms should I observe???

Also where are the fuel sending units??? I was wondering if they make any noise???

Default Shocks don't usually "ClunK" internally....>>

They do go flaccid though! Check the bottom bolts. If tight, peel back the rear wheel liner and check the top bolts. There have been instances of these loosening and clunking. Grab the shock and try to move it around...May allow you to diagnose without doing the liner thing..

Default links as in sway bar links???

if so, they have been replaced about 15,000 miles ago. However, now that I think about it tho... whenever I get in the car something does squeak on the rear.
