Got back from the dealer & the Service Manager told me something interesting...
I tried to have them code the car to have the doors lock @ 15mph. This is the 2nd time I've had them try this. Last time they did this, when I got it home the top didn't work (power top on a 225R). So I took it back in & they fought with it for several days before finally replacing the Central Locking Unit.
This time they recoded the CLU & I was smart enough to try the top before I left. Sure enough, no juice. They drove it back to the bay & tried (unsuccessfully) to reset the CLU.
The interesting bit is that the Service Manager said that apparently this is a known problem and that they used to recode all of them before the new owners took delivery, until they found that the tops stopped working (I would have thought that would have been the first car they did it to...). Then after trying everything the Audi mothership apparently told them that recoding the locks on a Roadster is verboten cos it breaks the top.
Has anyone else heard this, or was he just trying to get me to go away? The really annoying part is that if they figured that out on some of the first ones they delivered why did they break mine & then take a week to fix it the first time and then break it again. Bizarre, eh?
Needless to say, they still have it til tomorrow morning (at least). & I was looking forward to putting in my new K&N filter. :^)
P.S.: I had them put synthetic oil in for the 10k service. Looks like they used Mobil1 & they charged $16.52...

Here's the poop
Programmers count bits starting at 0, mechanics start counting at 1;
bit #4 (value 16) automatic convertible top control
bit #5 (value 32) speed locking (20km/h)
Ask someone with VAG-COM in your area or different dealer to set code for you.

Here's the whole chart
value & function; if you have function and want to remove it subtract value, if don't have it & want it, add value:
(1) anti-theft LED
(2) immobilizer confirmation flash
(4) SCL active
(8) immobilizer active
(16) power top control
(32) speed sensitive locking
(64) remote windows
(128) trunk unlock delay
(256) confirm remote lock (blink)
(512) confirm anti-theft active (honk)
(1024) USA window logic
(2048) confirm remote unlock (blink)
(4096) USA no safe
(8192) remote
Don't give a canned number to the techs, make them add or subtract from current value. If you give them a number to add speed locking and it contains anti-theft but you don't have anti-theft then things can go wrong.
