Got the call.......225 is here! Cost in Oz...
Hey, It's finally my turn to say it so I'm not going to let the opportunity pass...Salesman rang today, car is at dealer being prepped and window tint fitted, probably pick up on Monday. The car is list price $86K + on-roads. Dealer charges $1495 for "pre-delivery" (read expensive carwash) Government takes $3,590 in stamp duty and another $550 in registration fees. Oz quattros come with 17", xenons, full leather, no seat heaters, climate control, Bose concert with 6 stack, headlight washers, immobiliser, only options available are cruise @ $990 and metallic paint @ $1250 (denim and silverlake). My car is denim/denim with cruise therefore total "driveaway" price is AUS$93,895 (current US exchange is approx AUS$1.00 = US$0.63) Here in Oz the TT is "up there" and I am definately "stretching..." to get into one. For another $25K I could look at a base Boxster, however, if I wanted a Boxster with the same spec as my TT I'd need to spend $150K!!!
So for all you Seppos (Americans) stop whingeing about the cost of cars, you just don't understand how cheap they are for you to buy.

That's $59,000 US!!! If I ever want to sell mine, I'm going to AU
If my math is correct, that's about $20,000 more than in the US (using US dollars). Therefore, after I get tired of mine, I'll take a trip to Australia to sell my car (expenses paid by the resale price down under) and make a holiday of it.
