Gray Avenger vs 540i and Corvette...
Both a 540i and a new Corvette challenged the Gray Avenger (my Nimbus Gray 225q roadster, for the uninitiated), and the Avenger was in the mood to play. So how did he fare?
Dusted pretty good by the 'Vette, I'm sorry to say. Still, he held his own and was only about 1.5 to 2 car lengths back at 90 mph, so it wasn't a total embarassment. The Corvette driver slowed and flashed a big grin and thumbs up to the Avenger.
However, the Avenger trounced the 540 pretty good. Once it was obvious that the 540 was soundly defeated, the driver dropped quickly out of warp, so as not to give an Audi driver any further satisfaction. Too late!

It was a late model, but not the latest model.

tough to keep up with 345 torque...
it's hardly disappointing to lose out to a purebred like the vette, although it's nice to hear the competition (AKA bimmers) sucking dust!
hmmm where's my 300hp TT?

Re: On the straight yes but...
Straightline speed UI can understand but throw in a few twist and turns and I a muscle car like the vette would be shown up.
If your car was chipped to 270bhp with 300+ torque then I think you would stand a good chance at straight line start up.

Perhaps you haven't driven a C-5 ('97-'00) Vette...
We have '97 Vette & '00 TTQ in family. I can't agree with you, briTT.
You really should drive a C-5 (agressively) on the twisty roads you mentioned. TT may be more elegant to drive, but not by a lot. Both are great long distance drivers. You don't want me to tell you which gets the most MPG on trips.
FWIW: Stability on the naughty side of 130 in the C-5 inspires confidence. "Hunkering down" comes to mind. Also @ 44K miles & 3 years Vette hasn't started to fall apart yet.
