Default Gunk around fuel injector - normal?

During a "super clean" of my 180FWD TT, I noticed that there was black gunk around the fuel injectors and on the surrounding intake manifold. I looks like something was leaking out from around the injector and the dirt/grime decided to stick to it.

My first thought is that it was some type of assembly lube left around the injector that the dirt is sticking to. I may be normal but I'd rather error on the side of caution. Has any one else noticed this? The rest of the area is dirt/grime free.

Default seems to be a 1.8 trend look at this
