Is it hard to change a TT battery or should I take the car somewhere to have it done?

Default It's a bit of a PITA, with the battery cover clips on the sides but it's pretty straight forward

Just keep all the wires out of your way when sliding in the new one.

You'll need to re-set your stereo and set the clock & time..

Do you have to unscrew any bolts?

Yes, a couple, plus the two terminal nuts and the cover snap locks.

Default I don't know if there is a difference between years and Q/Fwd/180/225, but on my '00 Fwd, I only

needed to unbolt the terminals and the holder bracket at the bottom of the battery. If you do it, make sure you have at least a 12 inch socket extension for your ratchet, in order to get to the holder bracket.

It also helps to have a magnet wand so you can retrieve said bracket's bolt when it falls onto the underbelly pan (as well as other various bit that I always drop down there).

It only took me about 30 minutes from the time I got all the tools gathered up, to the time I put them all away.

Also see this thread on the radio setting saver I made, so I wouldn't have to recode the radio. It just plugs into the cig. lighter...

9v battery plug

Default You need to remove the front plastic cover, top of the right side, bet. grill and battery.

You will need a 13mm and a 10 mm socket, with a long 3/8 adapter to get at the front bolt.

To remove this plastic piece, push in the center of the black plastic "button", 3 places on this cover. Don't push the center thru, just about 1/4". it will give. slide a butter knife under the button to pop it off.
You may need to do the left side also. the plastic is stuck together to the other on in the middle, by the hood latch.

Default You're either gonna have to get a magnetic wand, or take the bellypan off....

and fish for it from underneath. That sucks man. Good luck.

Do I need a special tool to get the belly pan off? That's what I have heard.

Default You will need a torx bit (don't know the exact size) and a flat head screwdriver.

There are about 10-15 torx screws under there and two or three flat head screws inside each wheel well. It comes off easier than it goes back on.
