Default Just wondering, b/c sometimes I feel the intake after riding, and its really hot. So I was thinking

of putting around it some type of aluminum shield. What do you think Quicksilva? Some shield like the Neuspeed shield.

Default I doubt it would make a difference to the internal temps that much

Although it would be foolish not to examine what Mr. Schwing did to his intake in the quest for lower intake temps.

First off just try adding a radio shack thermometer to monitor temps....Steve has one and could probably give more info.

Default that engine looks familiar =P like I have seen it somewhere before.......

I dont think you would be doing anything beneficial by doing this, the CDA box is sealed and made of a material that *loses heat* very quickly...

Just make the cold air get there =)

Default Still gonna suck nothing but hot air......>>>

You've got to isolate (the intake from the engine compartment) and insulate (to keep the compartment heat from raising the intake temps). See my pics.

Default Agree. As a matter of fact.. I just wrapped my BMC with insulation and I

still registed higher then "normal" (based on observation) intercooler temps with the BMC. I yanked it out and will wait until I have a FMIC so I can get true cold air. Intercooler temps have returned to normal. I can only think the OE air box does a better job insulating against hot air.

Default I had that filter on for about 20 minutes..

and noticed big loss in mid-range ..and.. I could smell burning oil (off the filter element.. i hope) from the heat in the engine comp. I think the stock air box is the best. Better off getting a bigger intercooler for the turbo.
It looks cool, but IMO it was a waste of $$$.$$.
