Default Have you ever been stereotyped because of something someone saw in a movie?

I posted a picture of a theater chair I had purchased for my dedicated audio room... and thus because I seemed proud of my purchase I am now deemed a 'redneck' (or having redneck blood in me) because our little friend NasTTcar saw the movie 'Sweet Home Alabama' and remembered the father who liked to show off how his new recliner worked.

Now... I do not see any relation between the two other than a type of chair was involved. And I also don't appreciate being the victim of a stereotype because someone saw a movie and thinks they are an expert on rednecks because of it. Even worse because that movie was so far off base in its representation its not even funny. Anyone who has ever been to Mobile and the surrounding area (fairhope, daphne, gulf shores etc) knows what I'm talking about.

So anyone else been the victim of a stereotype?

Default i'm the 'unfortunate playboy' if it makes you feel any better.

get orphaned, drive a nice car and dress well, and you become a tragic figure...

this often leads to malice and spite on the parts of some, pity from others, and offers from girls with substantial mental-health issues.

*shrug*

oh well.

Default I am sometimes stereotyped (I get the playboy thing alot...yeah right!) but if I am stereotyped...

(Italian/Mafia)I don't take it too personal. <"leave the gun & take the cannoli"> It gives a feeling of credence to the person doing the stereotyping IMO.That's just me. I can let alot go cause they're not worth the effort or anger IMO.

Default I gave up wondering (worrying) about what other people think of me....

a long time ago. If they aren't a friend, I could give a rat's *** as to what opinions they have of me. BTW, everyone stereotypes, it's only natural. It's the animal in us trying to assess threats based on what information we have. It's the human part of us that chooses to not act on, or ignore, the stereotypes we form.

I guess this really doesn't have anything to do with your question though.
