The type number is stamped onto the head, passenger side far front, on the hoisting lug - you can barely see it (the "A" is clear) in this poor pic, lower left.

there is no other "engine number" but each of the components - head, block, etc, have part numbers related to the "engine code".

Nope, just a 3-letter designation like AWP, ATC, AUP, etc.
