Help with clunking noise please.
Sounds like something is loose in the upper area of the right rear quarter panel. Looked underneath as much as I could this evening and nothing appeared loose. If I had to guess I'd say that my shock is shot or a wheel bearing. The sound is a light clunk when going over bumpy roads or starting/stopping. No clunking when turning. I had new tires mounted a few weeks ago, but can't see how that would be a cause.
2002 TTR 1.8 FWD 47K, Suspension and shocks are still original OEM.
Any thoughts on what to look for? Or obvious places to start?
Thanks,
Mike

here's what I would do:
1. Put down the keyboard/mouse
2. Go out to garage
3. Look at the actual car (not in .JPG format, either)
;-)
Seriously, it could be almost anything. Go out and take a look at that corner... jack it up, push/pull/twist on that wheel in all directions (still mounted), if not luck pull the wheel...
It could even be the exhaust, for that matter.... think outside the box!

I think I know what ails your car
I think that your upper strut bolt is a little loose and needs to be torqued.
Raise the car, partially compress the trailing(?) arm on the side w/ the noise, and tighten the upper bolt. I suggest raising the arm, so that you can ensure that there is little-to no play when you torque it down.
good luck.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/1436327.phtml">One of my many posts on awtt on the matter.</a></li></ul>
