Help no radio!!
Hi, I just picked up 2001 Audi TT 225 and I need to program my keys for it. The person I got it from removed the radio so I can't get the radio code. What do I do?????

The radio code is specific to the radio rather than the car. I bought a used one for my 2001 Roadster. The seller had the code written on the replacement radio. Worked like a charm when I installed it and entered the code. SOME 2001 models had radios without a safe code. They don’t require reset after a battery disconnect. The radio in my coupe is like this.

Syncing key fob to car is not related to radio and it’s safe code.
Here is the key sync procedure.
1. One key in ignition in on position, but engine stopped.
2. Other key in the drivers door lock from outside and lock with key manually.
3. Then, with key still in lock and within a few seconds, press UNLOCK button ONCE on that key. Indicators will flash.
4. Remove key from door lock, wait 10 seconds and test. That key should be re-synced with car.

There IS a possible problem with aftermarket radios damaging diagnostic scanners due to their being wired differently and sending 12v to the diagnostic (k) line. Ross-Tech: VCDS: Afterrmarket Radio Problem

It's more that I can't get the code to program the keys. And from what I hear you need a factory radio to do that. I'm just wondering how do people have their keys programed after they put in an aftermarket radio.

One more time. The radio safe code has nothing to do with programming and syncing keys to the vehicle. If your car has immobilizer and you’re totally replacing the key you will need Vag Com or a dealer to do that. If you are only trying to sync the key fob which controls locking the doors you don’t need anything except the key fob and the above instructions.
