Default Hey LA area TTers...

I'm going to be in LA for the day on November 1st. I'm arriving in the morning, and leaving the next day on a 1:00 flight.

Two questions:

1) I have nothing planned for the afternoon, and I was thinking of getting a round of golf in. Anybody interested/available, etc.? Or, if any TTers out there want to get together for lunch, I'm up for that as well since I always want to meet more forum people.

2) I am booked at the Portofino Yacht Club hotel. Is it a nice place?

Thanks!

Default Portofino is in Redondo Beach! We've had some meetings there, but I've never stayed ...

overnight in any of the rooms, but it was certainly nice. Plus, if I remember, it's fairly close to the pier and the main drag at Redondo.

Closest golf course will be in Rancho Palos Verdes, called Los Verdes Golf Course - overlooks the Pacific Ocean. Tough to get on since its a public course.

I went with it because it's not too far from the airport, do you have any better ideas? Wanna play?

Default I've also held meetings at the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey - I think its actually closer to LAX

than the Portofino. I did stay overnight at the Ritz and it was nice. Nice bar too!! Plus, I think "tsltm" lives in Marina del Rey.

I've have to check my schedule for Nov. 1, I might be able to play. What time could you start?

Default Hey, don't get me started, I was looking into the Ritz at Laguna Niguel! My flight

gets in at around 10:30 am, so I could be ready to play by 1:00, how's that sound?

Default With a 1p.m. start time - we may not finish 18. Daylight Savings Time ends on ...

Oct. 28, and it will probably get dark at around 5:15 p.m. (approx), so I'm not sure if we could finish 18. Also depends where we play.

Do you want to do lunch or dinner instead? Might get a better turnout of LA TT'rs?

Default Dinner sounds good. Where shall we go? I hear the restaurant in the hotel is very

good, but I'll defer to you locals of course. I'm with my wife, we're overnighting in LA before flying out to French Polynesia the next day.

Default portofino=nice

i live in nearby torrance, and work in redondo beach-the portofino is quite nice, and there are a lot of restaurants-big ones-nearby (cheesecake factory, chart house etc)...depending on your tastes, there are a bunch of fun restaurants in nearby hermosa and manhattan beaches too. i don't play golf, being the world's worst golfer, but i do hope you enjoy your stay. my fave restaurant in redondo is called Gina Lee's Bistro, and it is
s e n s a t i o n a l, if you have a free mealtime available, grab a cab and go check it out-nice, not fancy, but just amazing asian/fusion food.

look for my nimbus 225 ttr-license is wildgft-see ya---
