How difficult is it to remove the handbrake cover? Looking at getting leather put on handgrip. TIA.

Nope, just pull the handle up and you should be able to get to it with a shorty

The screw is at the base of the handle (on the underside) kinda where that 90^ turn is that goes down into the transmission tunnel.
You may need to pop the plastic trim out of the transmission tunnel that's right below the ebrake, I can't remember if I did or not. That just pops right out tho and clips back in.

why does the leather one look so much shorter?
i am about to buy one from vagparts. does it use the existing metal button, mine is scratched :-( someone told me that the leather one slides around or gets twisted or something, is that true? i guess what i am asking is how goes the fitment??

It's just the perspective, materials quality and fitment are top notch, it is an OEM piece
The button is reused, it just clips into place. The leather piece just slides on, it doesn't use the screw.

I've never had it move at all, altho I don't do ebrake power slides ;)
It's very snug. To be honest the stock one doesn't need the screw either. The indent was from shipping, I just went out into the garage and checked, it's all smoothed out now. This and the leather door pulls really make the OEM pieces feel cheap once you get them out.

First one is a PITA, second is much quicker.
