Default How do you guys wash your TT?

It only has been 2-weeks since I got my TT, so I am still a green pea. I would appreciate your feedback on this question. When I have time, I hand-wash the car and detail it... but what do you guys do when you want to grab that quick drive through wash? The thought kinda makes me nervous... Is it ok to go for it?

Default Wouldn't do it..........

1)In touchless washes that you're dragged along on a track, the track will ruin your wheels.

2)If it's one of those stationary washes that the equipment moves around the car, the chemicals that are used are seriously harsh.

very carefully :-) Avoid the drive thru, please. Manual car-wash/sprayer in winter.

Default Be very careful with car washes. Some can ruin your alloys and brushes can scratch your paint.

The manual even mentions this fact. I resort to the "hand wash" (chain around here called "Splash") about five times a year, expensive, but they are very good and very careful.

Default Touchless only...

...and that's only if you're in a hurry. Don't go through a contact wash.

Also, check to make sure they don't recycle their water. Most places recycle, and you're relying on their water filters to take out all the crap from previous cars. Not a good idea.

As far as how I wash my car, first, I blast it with a fan of water (not a straight stream) all over.

I have two sponges, one for the wheel wells, lower bumper, and dirty parts. The other is for the paint and glass surfaces.

I do a section of the car at a time, and then I rinse it with the hose. Don't let it dry, and try not to wash it when the surface of your car is hot, or in the direct sun. I use Zaino Z-7 car wash.

Do the wheels last, that way, you're not getting any brake dust in your wash bucket.

I do a final rinse, and then I dry it with a chamois. Generally, anything that contacts your paint isn't a good idea, but I'm pretty comfortable with the chamois (it's not a cheap one). Others use 100% cotton towels, or leaf blowers.

I then go over the car with Z-6, Zaino gloss enhancer.

Mmmmmmm... shiny.

Default I burn incense, chant Gregorian Themes and

blast the hell out of it with a stream of water!

1. Meguiar's soft gel wash
2. Citrus Bug & Tar Remover for the front end/mirrors
3. Keep a CONSTANT shower of water on the whole car. (yes, i'm insane, but it keeps the shine)
4. Chammy her down, and bada bing, I'm ready for some rooftop kayaking!

watch out for the drive thru/contact type car washes. scratch city. i do mine by hand. :-)
