How long should installing a sub & amp take?
I'm having an authorized JL Audio dealer install an 8W7 sub in the pre-wired Prowedge enclosure along with a 250/1 amp. The guy told me he will need my car for 2 days! I even found all the write ups on how to remove the seat and side panels so that they can get to the rear speaker wires, hide the amp right by the Bose amp and get the job done without any guess work. I actually called JL Audio them selves and the techs there said it shouldnt take no longer than 4 hours, but ideally no more than 3.
There is no other authorized JL Audio installer where Im going and I want the warranty, so going somewhere else is out of the question. How should I go about telling him it should take about 3 hours? Especially since I have the 3.2 so the battery is in the back making it unnecessary for them to run any wires pass the cup holders. Im not the confrontational type, nor do I want him to punk me on my install or wallet if and when I call him on it.

I'm having similar work done now......"needs car for 3-4 days">>
Guess they work along with other projects. Two days.....no big deal.........the instant in instant out guys (Best Buys' facility comes to mind)may not provide the quality.
As for me..........I'll exercise patience and get a quality job

Usually I wouldnt have a problem with that at all but...
Ill be far away from home with out a car for the same amount of days they will have my TT. So that's at least 3 hotel nights and 2 days for a car rental. Its not really a quality thing though because everything will be hidden but I know what your saying.

See that's very nice for a custom install job but...
I'm just having the amp hidden behind the rear right hand side panel and the wires for the sub hidden behind the trap door by the rear horn.

I will be doing an install myself this weekend. I really can't see it taking that long especially
for pros. I'm putting in Alpine R 10" sub with a 400watt amp. I still have to investigate where to run the wires from, but if anything I'll just use the extra wires I have in the cable I used to hook up my PC to the car stereo. Power cable into the trunk will take me no more then 1 hour along with running leads from the deck (in case you don't want to splice into the amp). I think that the most complicated part for me and most time consuming will be desiging the box for the trunk and making it look similar to what EvotechTT has. I will also have to build in the amp and the pc into that box, so "let the planning begin".
