Default How much should it cost to install new tires?

I bought a new set of summer tires on tire
rack yesterday (4 Bridgestone S-03 PP 225/45/17)
and had them shipped to the only recommended installer in my area.

I dropped off my car this morning and this is the estimate I got for the work. This was to remove my winter wheels and the tires off my summer wheels (which are in the trunk), put the new tires on the summer wheels and put them on the car.

Here is the estimate:

Locate key and unlock wheels 7.99 (labor)
Additional care, special wheel 19.50 (part) + 69.50(labor)
Breakdown + mount rim + seal 49.96 (labor)
R&I four tires & rebalance 39.95 (labor)
Tire handling & Disposal 9.96
Valve Stem Short 7.80 (part)
Shop supplies (4.10)

This adds up to a estimated total of $209.36
Its been a long time since I've bought new tires but this seems really expensive! Is it just me?
What should I do.

Total RIP OFF, should have been around $80-$100 plus the tire disposal fee.

Default Seems a bit high to me. I just paid $100 to have 4 new tires mounted on my summer wheels (18x8 and

18x10). I expected to pay around $20/wheel and wasn't too far off. You're having a bit more work done....but certainly not $100 more work. If you don't know of any other good shops, I guess you're out of luck....

Hopefully, they'll at least do a nice job and not beat the hell out of your wheels.

Default $90 for special care is a definite red flag. They have to try extra hard not to do crappy work.

I put the rims and tires in my wifes truck- mounting and balance came to $40 and did the rest myself.

Default Am I stuck now that I've signed the estimate?

I really should have looked at it more closely, but I was late for work so I just signed, dropped off the car and left.

What could the $19.50 in parts for the "additional care. special wheel" be??

how about "locate key, unlock wheels" - I already told them there were no wheel locks. Unless they mean the key to the ignition, which is just ridiculous.

I'm angry, and at tire rack too, I'm going to ask them to take them off of their recommended installer site.

Default Interesting - I was at the TireRack 2 weeks ago and almost bought a set of the same tires.

I asked them how much to swap tires, stems, balance, etc. - Tirerack would have done it for $15 per tire.

My local tire store does the full deal for a little less than $25 per tire.

I suggest you pick up your tires and start calling around.

Yep. It should cost no more than $25 per wheel.

Only if they are in possession of the car and did the work.

I think shops pull this stuff to make up for lost margin on tires bought on 'net.

Default Just installed

Total for everything (installation, etc) was US$ 67. This was mount/balance, stems, tire disposal fee, and another State fee.

Georgia, BTW.
