how reliable are 2000 audi TT
#2
Pretty relible. Several here. Mine has 90K and no real problems...>>
Things to look for...
-Bad Mass Airflow meter
-Bad Diverter Valve
-With 75K on the odometer, make sure the timing belt has been replaced.
-Bad fuel sensors or instrument cluster (causing mis reading on gas gauge)
-Shocks are usually gone by that time (not gas filled)
-Upper strut bushings/bearings (around $50)
Hope I didn't scare you, but these cars are pretty dependable but require some maintenance.

I have a 2000 with 85K and had no issues but... >>>
Make sure your timing belt, H2O pump are done. Furthermore, you will more than likely need new suspension.
Otherwise, mine has been great!
Curious, what are you paying for it? and give some specs... Quattro? Color? etc...

I have a 2000 with 80k miles. I haven't had any real 'reliability' issues..
As others have said the timing belt needs done at 60k.. and suspension will need done by 75k miles.
Other than that I haven't had anything really go wrong with the car.
My gaskets were leaking at one point, but the dealer was to blame.
My side airbag blew for no reason a few years back.. never heard about that happening to anyone else though lol.

If you're really concerned about reliability, go Japanese
A good question. I think Audi reliability has gone up overall since 2000... if you do purchase a 2000 model, definitely check on the essentials as others have recommended here.
A year that hasn't had a great stretch of reliability can be used as a bargaining chip on a purchase... and then that money can be used to make the car "right". :-)

Timing gear has more than likely not been done as Audi recommends 100 thou. Use ....
that and the suspension as negotiations tools. Then if you buy the car get it done asap. Most of those here believe anything more than 4 years/60 thousand miles on the timing belt is a dangerous crap shoot. The other stuff is minor. Make sure your cluster is working properly.

The earlier the model, the more problems.
I have a 2001 and my problems have not stopped since I owned the car. This has been the least reliable car I've ever owned.
Try to find a later model if you want better reliability.
