Default I need combi valve advice.

I just replaced my pitiful cracked audi vac lines with nice shiny silcone lines. Now I get a new code. Reverse airflow detected... After a little troubleshooting to make sure I got all the lines correct, I start pulling vac on the lines.

My combi valve will not hold vacuume if I put a hand pump on the line going into it. The vac leaks out the tiny hole on the top of the combi valve. Is that by design, or is my diaphram shot?

--Also --
The solonoid valve leading to the combi seems to vent to the atmosphere (the port on the combi side) when it is not energized. I feel that is probably by design to vent vac after the solonoid de-energizes. The other port (on the intake side) holds vac fine when not energized.

Any thoughts? I just dont want to replace a combi that is functioning normally. If I put my finger over the tiny hole on top of the combi case, it holds vac just fine.

Does anyone know its design or tested theirs?

Thanks -Cartoondog.
