Once saw some kind of sacrificial anode system in a JC Whitney catalog.
Supposedly hooked up to the battery and kept your car from rusting. Never looked into it any more than that. Figured if it worked I'd read somewhere about it later on.
Only place I've seen one is on the "Big Piece" of the Titanic that was pulled up. The "piece" is kept in a pool of seawater and will eventually be put on display in air. Remove it too soon and the piece would crumble apart.
