I really, really apologize for this: DV hum question.
Greetings,
My car's a week old, has about 1k miles on it, and at about the 750 mile mark I started to notice a noise, but it doesn't jive with anyone else's description on here. I HAVE ordered a Bailey valve, but I'm curious if I am having the same problem, or if these are normal turbo noises.
What it sounds like, is a deep, throaty gargling noise, one which would be produced by a person gargling mouth-wash with a real deep voice. It doesn't sound like a coke bottle (maybe pepsi? ), nor does it honk. I want to save my OEM valve as a spare, but not if it's defective. Does this noise constitute a bad DV?

Re: When does it occur?
Well, its kind of all the way through the RPM band, not just at that magic 3,000 area. Starts up maybe around 1.5k RPM, pretty much when the turbo kicks in, and does it until I shift, and then repeats on each gear. That's why I thought that perhaps it was just the noise that the turbo makes, but I wanted to be sure.

Well, the one way to find out for sure is to switch to the Bailey when it arrives. If it goes away
.... well... you know the rest. My car has the goose come on around 2700 and I can hold it until 3500; Michael's car does it through the whole rpm range now. It is a deep throaty gargle-like sound, so what you are describing could be it. (Descriptions of sounds lose something in the translation! :-) )

Maybe someone should try to get a recording of what it sounds like...
If I had the problem, I would do this and post it in mp3 format, but I haven't noticed it...500 miles and counting on my 225 coupe. If anyone in the South Bend, In area has the problem and would be willing to let me get a recording, I would be glad to sample and post it. I think it would be a good thing for people to have access to as there seems to be a bit of confusion as to what it actually sounds like. I'm sure someone out there has the equipment and expertise to get this done, so let's do it.
