I saw the VW hotline in the paper yesterday regarding the brake switch recall, so I called it
and asked if there are any plans to include Audi in this recall, since I believe it is the same switch. If VW has a recall for a specific part, wouldn't it make sense to recall all cars that use this part?
The VW guy said "not that I know of." I mentioned that I own an Audi and am currently on my fourth brake switch, which is plagued by this exact problem. He kind of chuckled and decided to transfer me over to an Audi Customer Care advocate.
At that point I decided not to waste my time and hung up.

Probably not enough failure incidents..>>
with the Audi's to require an NHTSA recall...
The good thing here is a better part will be in the parts channel soon! Buy em at the VW store..

If they did one recall before (jetta's and such) why isn't teh better part in the pipeline
already? My dealer replaced mine twice last year, the second time I didn't even know there was an issue, brake lights were still working, but the VAG-COM told them there might be a problem so they swapped the part out.
