I'm pretty new to the whole performance knowledge thing, so I need some help...
Ok, I'm just checking out different cars on Edmunds, and I come across some pretty strange things looking at a BMW 330i. It lists the BMW at 3627 lbs, 225HP, 214lbs of torque, and a 0-60 time of 5.9 seconds. I lists the Audi TT at 3274 lbs, 225HP, 207 lbs of torque, and a 0-60 time of 7 seconds. I understand that the BMW is a 6 cylinder compared to a 4, but it doesn't have a turbo charger. So how does a rear wheel car that weighs 450 more lbs, and only 7 more foot lbs of torque, outrun a TT by over a second in 0-60 time?

take edmunds with a grain of salt
the site is quite helpful but i'd take their performance related info lightly. i myself look at their reviews for the pics. i have noticed that they are mirrors of the status quo, sometimes almost paraphrasing car mags in order to sound consensual. i think that their 0-60 times are based on what they could produce with their drivers. (and, i dont know if i am alone here but they seem to have an anti audi karma about them in general). in either case the 225 actually is manufacturer rated at 6.3 or 6.4 secs to 60 while most car mags have timed it at 5.9.
i have also thought about the 0-60 issue on my new 225 and am thinking of the ABT chip if it becomes audi approved- from what i hear audi endorses it in europe. i hope to get it to 60 in 5.5 without any other modifications.

Look at the torque curve for your answer. The bimmer has more torque at lower rpm
other factors that may or may not be present include gearing and final gear ratio, fly wheel wieght, and power train losses. All can and do contribute to acceleration.

My guess: Quattro/Drivetrain (Powertrain?) lost..
We lose a lot more power to the wheel with the advanced Haldex Quattro system Audi uses, not a whole lot of power in the end goes to the wheels. I'm not 100% sure, but thats what I think

I don't know, then. Do they test the cars over there? I trust the car mags more...
Car and Driver (chronic BMW lovers) has the 330 0-60/1/4 mi @ 6.1/14.8 and TT Roadster @ 6.2/14.7. AoA has it at 6.7.
