Default Immobilizer Question

How do I know if my car has the immobilzer feature?
I bought a used 2000 180QC from the dealership.
When I requested a second remote/key for the car
they said they had to program the key for the immobilzer. The manual says nothing about it and
there is no dash symbol.
$200 plus for a key???
I finally made them pay for it.

You shouldn't have an immobilizer. That was added midway thru MY2001.

Default Re: Immobilizer Question ( Cluster)

Now that I know the car does not have the immobilizer installed, can I install an instrument
cluster without going to AUDI?
Heat guage is whacky...new sensor install didn't

Default you still need to get the odometer set and I think only the dealer's computer can do that.

You could always take it to an independent shop as well but as far as I know the tools that are available to us (VAG-Com and Prodiag) do not have access to this.

Default I think I remember seeing th Vag-Com procedure for setting the mileage>>

it's a set once, can't touch again thing, so, get it right the first time!

Default That would be nice to keep around...

I don't have an immobilizer either so it might prove useful. A friend of mine had a cluster swap done under warranty and they punched the mileage in wrong so he had to go back and get another one installed. It is definitely a one shot deal.
