It's Safety First On New TT

Even the most desirable cars can't keep their appeal for ever, so Audi has sent its popular TT back to the drawing board for a facelift will boost safety as well as power. Due to hit showrooms in the summer, you'll have to be keen to spot the changes.

Visual alterations are being kept subtle so as not to ruin the concept car looks, or harm residual values of the current model. Most of the tweaks will be under the skin, where the flagship versions will see the turbo engine bored out from 1.8 to 2.0 litres, upping power by 20bhp to 245bhp.

Engineers caught testing this prototype at the Nürburgring in Germany have been working hard on revisions to the chassis, quattro four-wheel-drive system and underbody aerodynamics to finally banish the current car's stability problems.

Visually, there will be a new range of colours and wheel designs, plus minor changes to the lights, bumpers and front grille. The interior will see upgrades to the hi-fi and sat-nav systems, while the roadster will get a fully lined roof and revised hood cover. But the rear spoiler remains, though - for now. The boot-mounted plastic lip was hurriedly added to improve handling at speed, and it was planned to fit a prettier, electrically-operated retractable aerofoil similar to that used on Porsche's Boxster. But this has been ruled out on cost grounds for the next year at least.

Meanwhile, Audi has revealed prices for the A4 cabriolet. But demand is so great that the UK's entire allocation for this year has already been snapped up months ahead of its spring launch. The car will be available with a 2.4-litre 170bhp engine or a 3.0-litre 220bhp unit, plus two trim levels, standard or Sport. Prices start at £24,620 for the 2.4 standard model and rise to £28,170 for the range-topping 3.0 Sport.

Now that TT is slammed, but...look at the neg camber on the rears

I guess someone shoul let Audi in on KMAC or forge adjustable arms, even I didnt sport that much neg camber....
And not being one to whine, but with 2.0L they are only going to get 245 hp out of it?, cmon thats not much of a boost is it?

I dont cre about colors as long as its silver and is a true S-TT, and quite frankly this don't give me any hope of seeing such a beast soon...

Sad..

While you never know, we've seen info in AutoWeek, & now even more info from Auto Express...

While there's no guarantee, it certainly sounds like something is up. I doubt these guys are just making up the story. Very likely, they are getting some info from Audi.

As to the negative camber, I would suspect that this is a test car that has been lowered a lot. Assuming an upgraded TT is offered, Audi would undoubtedly have worked out any camber issues by the time it is released.

He had to have just hit the bottom of a big dip at speed.

Audi would never build it with the car dropped that low. Hell they don't even have Eibach springs...

in the accesory catalog.

It's the force of the car pushing out of the corner

causing it to look (much) lower than it really is. (all the weight is transfered to the outside of the corner) Did I say that right? Probably not....

Or this...

Notice how all speed testing is done with a black one?? must be a more performance orientated colour

What They Need to Do Is ............ Take Metabolife 356

The TT is a great car. However, until it can drop about 400 lbs, it will never run with the real sports cars.

When they start doing all aluminum skins, improved springs and brakes, and then lose more weight, then they will not need to grow the engine.

Maybe they should just feed it Metabolife 356.
