It literally took me 2 hours to get the cats out, remove all the heat shields, drop the drive shaft down a bit, and remove the bottom of the shift compartment JUST TO REMOVE 2 SNAP RINGS!
I spent more time removing stuff to get at the shift mechanism than installing the new kit!
Oh, well....An A1 VW the TT is not...lol.
Shifter is great, well crafted and they thought of everything when puting together the kit, even how to reinstall the bottom of the shift compartment which you basicly destroy the mounting for when you take it off.
I dropped the reverse lockout bolt into the shift compartment AFTER reinstalling all the shields and exhaust. I tried to get at it with a magnet, but it's just too far down in there. I ran to the hardware store and got another one. When I redo the exhaust I'll get it out of there...lol.
If you plan on doing this kit, put the lock out bolt in the shifter BEFORE you put it in. I don't know why they made it the last step. It's ackward to put it in with the shifter already being installed, and if you do what I did you're on the way to the hardware store like I was...thank god Ace Hardware was open today.

Hey Corey! Just noticed your in the Fox Valley Region.......
Where are you located? I'm in Appleton! I've been considering installing the B&M shifter- was it worth the hassle?

If you need help with the shifter install I'll gladly come over as long as there is a beer or two involved. Knowing how it all comes apart, the 2nd time will be much easier.
Worth the hassle? I didn't Notice the difference right away, but on the way to work this morning I did.
Yes, it's worth it. Especially since I only paid $140 for it!
So, are you the Black TT on 76, or the Aviator Grey out in Darboy? Those are the only two that I see in Appleton on a consistent basis, other than the Amulet Red one sitting at Meister.

I'm the Silver Roadster with aviator grey interior......
several silver roadsters around, but the rest have black interiors. Mine sits a little lower due to the S-line suspension, and if the top's down and I'm by myself, I've got the tonneau cover on the passenger side. I've usually got the factory bra on, too. I live on Pacific street in Appleton, but most people spot my car at Fazolis' by the mall, where I have lunch a couple of times a week with a friend who drives a silver TT coupe. I may take you up on your offer if I decide to go with the B+M... in the meanwhile, I'll keep an eye out for your car!
