Default ice-link does not show any song info in the oe headunit>>

if you hook it up through the cd changer connector you can use the forward and back botton on the headunit to switch songs on the ipod. the display in the headunit shows as cd # and tr #.

What would you like an interface to do?

Default Scroll the same info that would be displayed on the iPod itself

This is definitely not too much to ask.

Default I'm using version 2.06 on the iceLink.....

there is still no headunit display, except for the cd and track numbers. Album play from the random switch doesn't work. Updates are getting easier to install, but overall not what they promised originally. Sounds good though. My advice is save your money til they actually get it to work right.

Default Buy an Alpine head unit and the iPod adapter.

That's really the only way to do what you want.

Default Maybe not too much to ask, but difficult to execute. you need to integrate 2 seperate protocols...

and you need to get Apples' interface and the Audi H/U.
2 difficult and expensive licensing protocols.
I have tried.

Default You have to license this stuff?

TUgh, it really pisses me off to find out that there are legal issues in the way of this kind of a thing.

I am pretty shocked to hear how complex this is. I seriously would think it would be pretty easy to atleast read the ID3 tags of the song that is playing and have them display on the headunit.

I'd be interested in hearing some more about what is really being outputted (sp?) to the screen in the iPod itself (to understand this 2 protocol concept)
