Some of you probably noted that my dad died this past weekend. I posted this within minutes of receiving the news and I was genuinely touched by your response.
Things are still tough, but I'm feeling a whole lot better. My sister and I are starting to eat once again. We interviewed Pastors yesterday for his memorial service and then went out to have a few drinks, shoot some pool and tease each other. It felt good to get out and do something other than talking to coroners, morticians and the police.
Thanks again for all of your warm wishes!
P.S. If you don't have a will or trust, create one soon. If you do have this, be sure that your loved ones know where to find this sort of important information. We're having a hard time locating these documents, and I think it's going to greatly complicate matters.

Although we've never met in person I feel a kinship which is probably unilateral since I'm mostly a lurker. Your loss truly saddens me. In my line of work I bring news of death to sons, daughters, husbands, wives, fathers, mothers. Still I can't, as a doctor they've just met, fill that hole. Only love can. Your sister's, your friends', your family's. Nonetheless, it sucks. There's no way around it. Whether or not it was a total surprise is immaterial. Nothing I say can fill that void. Mourn him and miss him with those who are close to you. Know that it will all work out eventually. Take care and let us know how you're doing. You've got a lot of friends here.

Me too....Sorry to hear about your loss....>>>>>>
its best to celebrate someones life, rather than mourn although there is always time for that....its likely the way your dad would have wanted it...all my best

Sorry to hear, and I have been going through the same thing. My dad passed April 1. >
and it is not easy at all. I'm not sure how we handle it here in the US, but in Italy no will means that wife and kids get everything. Wife 50%and the rest goes to the kids.
My dad had a will and we still are having issues with some things. Oh well, just be patient and all will work out.
