Just got a TT, What mods should I consider ?
Hey Guys,
I just acqured a 03 TT - 1.8 - 180hp version. The car is one of the nicest cars I have ever had. The car is stock, and I have a little money to play with. What mods should I look into ? I've seen most guys talk about a ecu upgrade. Just figured I'd see what some of you guys though. Thanks |
ECU first!!

2nd!!! No wait, I mean first!!!

1st, get a chip, or rims...depends on your tastes Go or show.

REVO / REVO/ REVO---Flashed mine within a week of purchase. NO Regrets......Love it!!!!
The most bang for the buck as far as "fast" is concerned.
If you are shooting for "looks" I would pass on REVO as it is a little hard to see from the curb.

REVO Technik

|
I'm going to be different and say suspension...
in fact, I've had the car (180 quattro) for two years now and that's all I've done.
Koni shocks/struts Neuspeed springs 19mm Neuspeed rear sway bar Powerflex poly front control arm bushings |
Good call.

ditto, if I could only have one mod it'd be shocks.
|
Yup! I'd start with the suspension...>>
Depending on your driving style, Some have replaced the shocks while keeping the stock springs. The stock shocks are crappy from the factory (Monroe makes them). Either Bilsteins HDs or Konis work great. You keep the stock ride height but the handling is much improved.
On the other hand, most replace their springs/shocks with either Eibachs or other springs and either the Bilsteins Sports or Konis shocks. While other use a coilover system such as KW. If you choose this path, prepair to spend a little extra for a rear camber setup - either 1/2 Kmacs or the Forge adjustable lower arms. Once you lower the car, the camber on the rear cannot be adjusted without one of these. Once the suspension is done, you can move on to the engine and exhaust. But that's another story!! Hope this helps! |
Admit it, you've done only that because you don't feel comfortable working on cars.
;-)
I agree with you BTW. Still on the path towards departing with the TT? And how's the little one doing? Trent |
