Default KaBoom

4 degrees out last night. Driving through the country on our way to dinner and out of nowhere KaBoom from the engine compartment. Big bad sounding noise. So I cut the engine and coasted to the side. No tools or even a flashlight, used my cell phone screen in place of a flashlight. Snooped around under the hood and saw that one of the coil packs was sticking up and out of where it should have been. Made 2 calls. Called friends and asked them to pick up my tool bag from our house before coming by. And then called a friend who guessed exactly what happened. Turned out that a spark plug backed itself out and shot it and the coil pack out and through the plastic engine cover (not badly damaged). Put the plug back in properly and was on our way in less than 2 minutes. Scared the bjezzus out of me!

Default Put a wind up flashlight in your glovebox or spare tire kit.

Probably the push in kind, solid mounts would never blow out.
