Default Latest Hole in Pocket - Just ordered Porterfield brake pads

Ordered from MyRoadster.net (cheaper then buying direct from porterfield) from Jerry the owner. Jerry is fairly involved with SLK and Z3 forums (prob. where Ellen found him). Nice and responsive to deal with. I am also encouraging him to post and advertise at AW/VWV. I am looking forward to trying the Porterfields on my oem brake setup and soon to arrive new wheels.

Default Great! Jerry is a sponsor on the Benz forum, and I've been encouraging him to make his way over ...

to this neck of the woods as well. Michael has the Porterfields on his TT, and we just put them on the 32 yesterday. Very little dust, and they're reportedly rotor friendly (carbon-kevlar). Oh, and from what I can tell so far, the braking is great (and no squeaking, but that could have been from M's expert installation ;-D ). Porterfield pads are the main aftermarket pad they seem to use on the M-Bs.

Jerry is a really nice guy, and he's the sole proprietor at MyRoadster.net.

MyRoadster.net

Default Because they are carbon-kevlar, do they last longer?

I am assuming the stock pads (and possibly the other pads people are putting on) are not carbon-kevlar, being the dolt that I am I thought they were a rubber compound.

Default I looked on the Porterfield site, and I don't see any info regarding how long they'll normally last

I'll ask Jerry next time I talk with him, or that would be a good question to post directly to Porterfield.

Also, if you decide to go with these pads, don't foget about bedding them properly.

Porterfield Brakes

Default I think that it wasn't necessarily the installation but rather the bedding that removed the squeaks.

;-)

Default They seem to allude to that fact...

They mention, briefly, that these pads should last longer if they are bedded properly.
