Default what about some of the other fluoroquinolones?

i.e. Levaquin, Tequin, Floxin? Cipro is a relative 'dud' in terms of antimicrobial spectrum compared to Levaquin, for example.

Default Tequin will kill everything Cipro does, and more...

...and if its anthrax you're worried about, one of the reasons cipro is recommended is that it's the only fluoroquinolone that has been tested against anthrax...but those were animal studies, there have been no human studies!

Most strains of anthrax are sensitive to good 'ol penicillin, which has historically been used with success. But because of the seriousness of inhalation anthrax and the _possibility_ of there being a penicillin-resistant strain, it must be assumed that the particular strain in question is resistant to penicillin, hence cipro is recommended as empirical therapy until the sensitivity is established.

Default Just listened to a news report that said, "Please don't run out and start taking

Cipro as it can cause severe or lethal reactions." Timely, mais non. Wonder if Augmentin works...I'm not even worried about this...just a little dark humor on my part. Augmentin is what they always give me now. Sulfa drugs almost killed me...I must have a very sensitve system, LOL.
