Major Malfunction (Turbo hose popped off)
So I decided to take the TT to work today... It's been a while since I've driven her (got a 2010 Golf as a commuter car). I got on the gas to pass someone and heard the turbo spool up and then POOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFF... I heard what sounded like a big blow-off noise like a lot of air was escaping from the engine. The engine did NOT stop running, I pulled over and saw that the big hose had popped off the "do not touch" turbo pipe. I'm getting a new hose clamp after work. Should I expect to have to do any other repairs from this? What are the odds that in replacing the hose clamp and re-attaching the hose to the pipe that I'll be able to drive her?

Pretty good odds. Without looking at the car I can't be sure, but from your story - no worries. I'm surprised you didn't get limp mode or a CEL. One thing to check for is a split turbo inlet pipe. Assuming that isn't split you should be fine. If it is split - it's time to justify that upgrade to a samco hose!

How would I identify Limp Mode? I've never had that happen. My CEL has been on becuase the car thinks the thermostat is going bad. The light that comes on with ESP/ASR is on (the triangle with the circle-arrow around it and an exclamation mark in it).

Limp mode will limit your boost level. You computer can't tell if your thermostat is bad BTW, there is no sensor for it. Sounds like you might want to get a scan done so we can make sure there are no negatives associated with your accident.

The stealership told me that the CEL was on because the thermostat needed to be changed. I guess that tells me how honest my dealership is lol.
Well... I'll replace the hose and see if that does the trick. Thank you SO much for your help. At least I don't feel like the car might blow up without a trip to the stealership.
