Mark 1 headlight lenses wanted
 

Hello,
Anyone have a spare set of Mk1 replacement headlight lenses they are willing to part with?
I've emailed the headlampheadlight guys with no reply.

That was my hope too. Someone on the British forum e-mailed them a month or so ago, and they said they had no stock. Surprised you didn't get a reply... it seems to be a large Chinese manufacturer.

BTW - I dropped in on my Audi dealer and while discussing other parts, mentioned a need for new lenses. Was informed they only have full headlight units, not parts for them. A new Xenon is about $1000-1100 and a halogen less than half for a OEM aftermarket (Hella or Marrelli). Maybe get the halogen and use it for parts? Point of note: On the British forum, they noted that the reflector in the Xenon units also wears out - the chrome plating burns off, and the light output greatly decreases.

Another note: Someone started a tread on the Vortex forum on how to downgrade Xenon lighting to Halogen. You can now get new Halogen units upgraded to LED that supposedly put out 200% more light than the Halogen units. The cost is about $490 for a set. Would seem to be quite cost effective when compared to all the Xenon parts needed to replace/update.

Something I'll look into myself. I'll have to compare both wiring diagrams and see how feasible this might be.

If you are still looking I picked up a set from the site below in the fall and just installed them a couple of weeks ago. I think the advertised price now is less than I paid.
