Default Hi John - they are running like champs! We nailed down

the problem - documented in a prior post (see link below). We mistakenly used the 6mm bolt that holds the top part of the manifold to a bracket that goes down to the engine block. That was pulling the manifold away from the head therefore not allowing a good seal.

Interestingly, we also found that infamous vacuum tube, pictured below, was also split on my car (but not on Mike's). I'm sure that would have caused problems but was not the root cause of the loud popping and rough running engine at idle.

I fixed that split hose by removing the offender and adding a length of heater hose from PepBoys. John did you replace that part with OEM or ??

The good news is the cars run very strong. I also changed my thermostat back to OEM and I can't get it to go above the 12 noon mark anymore (good).

Prior post on this subject.

Default I inspected that part closely when I did the Dahlback Manifold installation......

Mine was OK and I did some hose rerouting to keep pressure off of that funky end piece.

To install my thermostat, I will need to take off the Dahlback. I do not want to do that so I will pay the tuner shop that did my install for the TB, WP, and Stat, to reinstall the thermostat. It would probably take me the better part of a Saturday to remove the Dahlback and everything associated with that. With a wedding coming I just don't have the time.

Glad yours and Mike's is doing well. That's the thing I wanted to know.

Default OK >>

I just re-read your post and you were asking about the Thermostat install - not the EvoShield intake gasket. Duh.

The OEM thermostat is working fine - I did some runs today using the climate control readout. Outside temperature was 93 degrees F; I had the A/C running and the display never ran above 99 degrees C and never moved above the 12 noon mark on the gauge even at idle. That would have never happened with the Wahler thermostat.

I am still at 32k, so I have not done the T-Belt or thermostat - this one was a MarTT only thing...
