Default mods

Hi everyone, were new to this forum and need your
imput. Daughter has 02 TT quattro coupe 180hp she
wants to start modding. In your opinion where
would she get the most bang for the buck. She
plans on going to 18's with 225/40's. She would
like to lower car some but beyond that that were
unsure as to what mods to do and who to do business with. We live in SoCal area and plan on
doing mostly street driving with occasional x-cross. We enjoy your forum, thanks in advance
for your suggestions. Dad

Welcome. IMO a chip would be the way to go (APR/REVO/GIAC).

Default welcome to modsanity :)

For suspension if you want something fairly straightforward with about a one inch drop bilstein (or koni) shocks with eibach springs is a great combo. If you want to drop it lower or want more adjustability the KWv2 or KWv3 coilovers have been the hot item. Best bang for the buck really would be a chip but I think with the 180hp engine the bump in power depends on the specific engine variant.

Struts are original. do you think we could get
by with changing the springs now and when the
shocks wear out change them. The car has 31k mi
on it. Thanks

Are all chips created equal or have you
experienced one is above all others. Does
it depend on who does the install or is it
a simple replacement of the stock chip. Thanks

Default The ones listed here are the popular ones. None have a major downside, and the general consensus

seems to be to go to whoever is closest. Now, if you really want to wring the most out of your car, you want a more customizable dealer, and then the brand matters more. However, it sounds like you want a more mainstream program, which again, all the above listed chips can provide.

Also, the trio of products from ModShack are great Bang-for-Buck items: TTDA, BAMM, and Boost Machine. Go to www.fotki.com/ttschwing for info and pricing. To get the most from these items, though, you want to be chipped.

IMO APR would be the way to go in your case unless one of the others is supported by a local shop.
