Default Nav system impressions...

...Absolutely useless in South Bend, In. I think that about sums it up. Everywhere I go, it says I'm off road because it only seems to have raods with a highway designation included in the maps...At least in my area. I'm sure the maps are better in other towns, but by looking at the list of towns with complete maps, I can't really tell how they chose which cities to include and which to leave out. They seem to have included lots of very small towns and the larger cities, but not mid-size areas...Like the one I live in. I guess we'll see how it works once I take it out of state, but for now, it's completely useless.

Thanks for the update. Looks like won't be getting a NAV at this time. -- not because of your post but because I don't want to wait for it.

I might end up doing an aftermarket NAV in my V70R in a year or so.

Default Nav system impressions in Cal

I have had pretty good luck with my Nav system. In the cases I have used it, it has worked well. It has, wth only one exception, been able to identify the road that I am on and give me pretty good directions to where I wanted to go. The one exception was when it thought I was on a road running parallel and about 100 yards away from the road I was on.

The only thing I don't like is how long it takes to program in a destination.

I have a handheld GPS that I use occasionally in the car. I believe it has a bit of logic in it that determines which road you are on even if the GPS places you just off the road. This logic could get you confused if the GPS unit picks the wrong road.

I imagine the Hertz neverlost system has this as well...with more logic involved I imagine because it does a great job in most areas.

Default I live in Long Beach CA

and found that the nav was dead on. I have noticed that it is more accurate when you start it when stopped rather driving. I wish there was a choice for a differrent voice though.

Bosch is aware that the NAV system is not very acurate and is working on an upgrade )according to AoA) FYI, the Audi system is not a GPS standalone unit. It also uses the trip computer including the miles driven when calculating postion. I think that this is the main problem. My system goes of road on 5th Ave NYC.
